2018 Survey Roundup: Mostly Good News

CIOs
Based on the Harvey Nash/KPMG CIO Survey 2018, the world’s largest survey of CIOs with 4,000 CIOs taking part, CIOs seem to be having some challenges when it comes to creating and deploying an effective digital strategy.
According to the survey, 78% of CIOs gave themselves low marks in the digital computing space. However, those organizations with chief digital officers (CDOs) indicated over twice the success rate when it comes to digital strategy deployment. Clearly, when it comes to digital computing, CIOs have much to improve on.
Another area giving CIOs heartburn is finding people with big data and data analytic skills. 2018 marked the fourth straight year where this shortage has plagued CIOs. They are also finding a trend taking hold when it comes to IT investments: In 2018, 10% of IT investments are being made outside of the CIO’s control.
