5 Ways to Improve Quality in 30 Days

Many projects deliver on time but fail to meet the budget—and poor quality is one significant contributor to these woes. Instead of waiting for an external review or PMO tips, seize the initiative yourself to improve quality.

1. Improve the quality of your project meetings. How does the typical project manager spend their time? Meetings! That’s why we’re going to start our quality discussion there.

You probably thought we were going to start with reprimanding somebody else for poor quality. No! We must start with our work product before anything else. For project managers, a low-quality meeting means you are going to spend more time and effort later on communication to make sure messages are communicated well. Here are two ways to improve the quality of your project meetings:

  • Reducing errors with assignments: When action items come up in the meeting, invite the person receiving the task to ask for clarification and support. Follow up after the meeting if you have a concern. Taking five extra minutes up front to reduce errors is well worth it!
