1. Always be networking. Remember the fundamental distinction between projects and operations? Projects have a defined endpoint. As a result, you will be starting up new projects several times a year (if not more often). Scrambling to assemble a project team when a new project starts is tough. That’s why I recommend a simple rule: always be networking.

Keep a lookout for new business analysts in your organization. You never know when you’ll need an expert in business intelligence or customer relationship management.
