Business Analysts: Taking the Spotlight

Organizations are being forced to change at an accelerated pace. Some believe that we are operating at a pace that far exceeds anything in our past—and that pace continues to accelerate even further.

There are numerous drivers of the change that is taking place. Arguably the most frequent current drivers of change include:

  • competitive pressures
  • process improvement
  • customer preferences
  • new habits
  • pressure from new entrants into the business environment

  • acquisitions
  • entities going out of business

In total, the picture is clear and a slowdown is nowhere in sight!

Business continues to change, much out of necessity. Some of these changes are the result of new business models that have been created by the evolution of one or more technologies. In many cases, the impact of such change has been and will continue to be noteworthy. This is what is turning the spotlight on the professionals we all know as business analysts.

Being in the spotlight is putting additional pressure on the business analyst to update and expand their capabilities. Business analysts play a critical role in the dynamic world and haw an organization operates today. Just look at the LinkedIn jobs section and search for BA positions: nearly 53,000 results. Clearly, they are just another part of the growing shortage of human resources. …
