The webinar PMI-PBA®: From “What It Is?” To “I Did It!” was full of valuable information, and the conversation continued afterward! Here, Andrea covers some additional questions and answers that came out of her presentation.

1. What are the advantages of the PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA)® certification compared to the IIBA® Certified Business Analysis Professional™ CBAP®?
If you do business analysis work primarily on projects or programs—or wear a PM/BA hybrid hat—getting the PMI-PBA is a great move. It addresses the key business analysis activities, skills and techniques used in that environment, so it scales perfectly for BAs in that context.

Further, since the material used to present the information you need to know for the PMI-PBA test (such as the Business Analysis for Practitioners: A Practice Guide and The PMI Guide to Business Analysis) is all about BA work on projects and programs, the language will be familiar to those already knowledgeable of PMI’s standards. In addition, the PMI material specifically addresses how the PM and BA roles work together, which is a huge benefit when using the standards to develop BA skills in the project environment.
