In Part 1 of this two-part article, I explored the idea that organizations with operations in different regions and countries would find themselves being able to resume operations at different rates, on different schedules and with different limitations. I suggested that being able to get creative in how businesses responded to those variances would go a long way toward establishing how successful they would be recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

But ultimately, organizations are going to have to turn that creativity into delivery. Recovery is not simply going to be a case of switching everything back on and going back to how things were before. Organizations are going to be faced with the need to reimagine their strategies, to adjust to a situation where the economy has slowed dramatically (and may not recover rapidly) and to shift from a growth focus to a consolidation focus that will help to strengthen their financial security while building a more resilient working environment.

All of that means projects, and it means project managers are going to be even more critical to the success of the business. And those projects are going to need to be delivered by the best resources available. That’s going to mean people from multiple locations across the globe.
