Are You Prepared for the Era of Disruption?

Innovation across many of the sciences and within technology is perhaps the most pervasive sources of disruptive influence we will see in the next few years. What is most interesting is the speed with which a breakthrough occurs, gets commercialized and spreads throughout the world. It seems businesses just get settled with one new breakthrough when another one appears that must be dealt with expeditiously.

The World Economic Forum works with leaders in business, government and technology to shape global, regional and industry agendas. This work gives it a unique view into what is likely to occur in the not-so-distant future. In February 2018, in conjunction with McKinsey & Company, it released the white paper “Creative Disruption: The impact of emerging technologies on the creative economy.” It examined the disruptive impact artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality and blockchain may have on what it termed the “creative economy.” It made some unique points about what awaits us and is likely to change the world in which we live and work.
