I have to be honest and say that I am fed up of all the articles on how millennials are so different in how they work and the way they need to be managed. When I was a teenager or in my early twenties, I heard how I didn’t know how good I had it, how life was so much easier than for older generations, etc.

And of course, I thought people of my parents’ generation were completely out of touch with the modern world. It’s been that way for generations, I am sure Neanderthal teenagers used to roll their eyes at some of the things their parents said.

The truth is that every generation disrupts the workforce, and invariably that disruption is for the better. And it’s not even millennials anymore: Generation Z is now entering the workforce in massive numbers.

What is different about the latest generations entering the workforce is the fact that they are the first people who grew up with anything like the powerful technology that we have available to us today, and the first generations that grew up with the internet as a normal part of everyday life. While the rest of us have had to adapt to it during our personal and working lives, people entering the workforce over the last few years accept it as just as normal as electricity and telephones.
