Exam Preparation: Which Option is Best for You?

With apologies to the writer of the 1970’s song by Five Man Electrical Band titled “Signs,” there is a phrase that very much applies to the considerations that take place when thinking about how to prepare for the Project Management Professional (PMP)® or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® exams. The song goes:

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin’ out the scenery, breakin’ my mind
Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign

Doesn’t it feel like everyone is an expert when it comes to the best way to prepare for the exam? While writing this article, I did a simple Google search of “What is the best way to prepare for the PMP certification exam”…and 52 million “signs” popped up! Page after page of sponsored ads, training company offers, YouTube videos and good-intentioned bloggers offered ways to make my preparation successful. (Disclosure: I provide PMP exam preparation bootcamps for a variety of organizations. This, however, doesn’t preclude me from providing what I believe are unbiased alternatives.)
