Fostering Innovation: A Sensory Solution

A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) covers all aspects of projects from initiation to closing. However, it leaves out much of the deeper humanistic approaches that we as project managers and leaders within our community can use to heal and motivate us.

Using unique approaches to problem solving can lift us up to become better people by using our inner passions and focus on self-improvement as a motivator. My goal in this article is to expand on alternative healing solutions and experiences to foster innovation and provide insight on how the experiences helped me—and how they may be of help to you.

A Sensory Solution
I stumbled into sensory deprivation tanks (well, not literally!) after returning from living in Peru. I was online seeking meditation and alternative medicines similar to those I had experienced in South America.

As I went down the Google rabbit hole, these sensory deprivation tanks/float tanks showed up consistently in my searches. After reading several articles and watching some videos on the use and benefits of these tanks, I knew this was an activity I wanted to fully experience.
