I’ve written a lot of articles these past weeks about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic (of course I have, it’s the single thing that is dominating our entire lives). And now I come to a different sort of article, one that relies on personal experiences.
I have a few experiences working in crisis project management, but nothing approaching the scale of what the world is going through. But can I offer some advice for getting through it? Maybe. I have a bit of a strange relationship with you, the reader. I don’t know many of you; I don’t even know who most of you are. Sure, I am connected with some of you through the ProjectManagement.com network, I read the comments that you post, and sometimes I receive emails or meet some of you at events and you mention articles that I have written. But I don’t really know any of you.
And yet every month, I try and tell you how to be a better project manager. It’s a bit presumptuous really, but after 15 years, I think I’ve got a pretty good sense of who you are—at least as a group—and what you are looking for in terms of guidance. So, here’s a rather different article. A personal letter to you the reader to try and make these times just a little easier to deal with.
