Making a Difference in the Nonprofit World: Teaching PM Principles Can Change Lives
Working Wardrobes is a non-profit organization with operations in Orange County, California. As a non-profit, its volunteers are its lifeblood. I graciously become one of them. The Working Wardrobe mission is to do everything in its power to help men, women, young adults and veterans overcome difficult challenges so they can achieve the dignity of work. It provides a comprehensive range of career development services and workforce readiness through career training, wardrobe services and job placement assistance in an environment of dignity and respect.
In 2014, Working Wardrobes decided to create and implement an introduction to project management course designed specifically for its clients; it instantly contacted me. The purpose of this one-week class was to give a “boost” to their resumes. I created the course for Working Wardrobe, “Leader of the Pack, Speak, Lead, Project Manage.” Successful completion resulted in a certificate from the Huntington Beach Adult School. The curriculum was well thought out and used basic project management best practice principles.
