PMI Chicagoland’s Executive Council: Advancing the Profession to the C-Suite
A transformational mindset has become a mandate in today’s business culture, not just for the enterprise, but also for the professions that sustain them. To state it another way: The fill-in-the-blank transformation movements (e.g., business, digital, technology, agility) are now an indelible part of the project landscape; that is, they are no longer movements, but permanent fixtures within our domains.
Recognizing this fact, PMI has been modifying existing programs and rolling out new ones that strategically focus on supporting and delivering value to the individual member who is seeking to enhance their skills. Fortunately for us all, PMI recognizes the local chapter’s role in this endeavor and has encouraged and empowered chapters to create local programs, to further support its members and advance the profession within their respective communities.
This article highlights an innovative program created by the Chicagoland chapter that has been successful in creating a nexus of communication and collaboration between the corporate C-suite, the local chapter, its members, and the profession as a whole. The program is called the Executive Council, and is an invitation-only body within the chapter that operates under an independent membership and governance structure.
