Project Management as a Skill and Its Resiliency to Technological Change
Introduction
Technology has continued to revitalize nearly all human aspects. Most processes and activities undertaken by humans have embraced technology, seeking to improve efficiency in such processes. The capability of technology to improve activities has been evident, with many industries realizing considerable success from embracing technology and automation. With such a trend, the field of project management has also had a grasp of technology, seeking to improve outcomes in perennial problems that have faced project managers in terms of planning and managing projects. It has been hypothesized that with the advent and embracement of technology, many managerial functions—as well as other positions—would be replaced by technology within contemporary organizations. However, this paper seeks to suggest that although technology has been incorporated into undertaking most aspects of contemporary project management, the skill/tool of project management has remained resilient to it.
