Project Management in 2000: Lessons From a Seasoned PM’s Journal Entries

Year: 2000

I can’t believe what just happened! A disembodied head appeared near my desk saying that it was me from 20 years in the future. (It looked like my face, just with a lot more gray hair and wrinkles…but was still very good looking, so could be me). It said it could appear several more times due to an experimental technology being tested in Sub-Basement 7 of the Project Management Institute.

Should I believe this entity? It seems like it means well, telling me how to avoid moments of embarrassment in the future. But this disembodied head seems a little crazy. It tells me I will write a blog, and I don’t believe those are going to last very much longer.

And it talks about technologies called “Facebook” and “Instagram” that make no sense. I’m writing my first article soon for a new website for project managers. Maybe my future self will be able to help me write these articles. I wonder what it knows about teams…
