PMI highlights the project management strengths of our three PMO finalists, who all offer insights into how they benefit from emerging trends.

For all the buzz around cutting-edge technology, navigating digital disruption still comes down to the people, according to leaders at the three organizations that vied for the 2019 PMO of the Year.

“The secret source to the success of our PMO I wouldn’t say lies within the almost-perfect processes, or the advanced IT or system solutions that we’ve adapted, or the technology and digitization that we’ve implemented,” says Abdullah Seflan, project engineer at Saudi Aramco, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. “The single most important [factor] for our success is the people of our PMO office.”

Nishant Subbiah, manager, enterprise program management at Fannie Mae, Herndon, Virginia, agrees: “It’s all about people—trying to recognize the need out there, trying to do good, work with people, bring out the best in them, and that’s what our leadership team enables. That’s what Fannie Mae as a whole embraces and envisions.”

And winning the PMO of the Year Award gives Fannie Mae an edge in hiring the kind of people it needs, says Joyce Walsh, vice president, enterprise PMO.
